TERRA-3000®

TERRA-3000 is a liquid, water-soluble ion exchanger.
TERRA-3000 works as a catalyst on surfaces. When applied correctly, it changes the chemical and physical properties of the surface in such a way that the ground attains a better strength and density that would be possible from nature alone. This comes about by continuously changing the water-binding power of soil particles (or ‘colloids’). As a result, capillary action is almost completely broken down.

“TERRA-3000 is NOT an aggregate or binding material like cement or lime, asphalt or salt. Instead, it need only be present in the soil to provide a more compact bedding and almost entirely prevent subsequent swelling. Moisture and frost have no effect on this. TERRA-3000 is a chemical product that reduces the surface tension of the water around the soil particles so that the barrier film surrounding the particles is dispersed in order for the surfaces of the particles to associate to each other. This causes an agglomeration of fines (mainly the minus 0,06mm fraction). TERRA-3000 is not a binding compound, but improves certain soil characteristics through the waterproofing effect. TERRA-3000 is moderately acidic (pH = 6), and has an ammonia odour. The process is permanent and irreversible once dried.”

TERRA-3000® Short Technical Description

TERRA-3000 is best described as “an Amine Compound Soil Stabiliser (Electro-Physical)”. Amines are of course formally derivatives of Ammonia (the faint smell when TERRA-3000 is diluted during treatment). The term “Electro-Physical” refers to the reaction or ion exchange (the “electro”) that occurs during the compaction (the “physical”) of soils treated with TERRA-3000.

TERRA-3000 is not a binder or binding agent. Pavement layers (sub-base, base or integrated base and wearing course) treated with TERRA-3000 are considered unbound and hence retain the advantage of flexibility at strength over bound pavements.

TERRA-3000® Not Just for Roads

NOT JUST FOR ROADS

NOT JUST FOR ROADS

When applied as directed, TERRA-3000 changes the chemical and physical properties of the treated material in such a way that the soil attains a much greater strength and density than would be possible in its natural state.
TERRA-3000 has a 30 year pedigree in Europe and around the world. Here in Australia, TERRA- 3000 has been deployed with great success in numerous locations across the rural road network, as well as specialist applications in the urban environment as depicted in the picture.
